Library Update - Reopening

Mar. 02, 2021

March 2, 2021

Hi Everyone,

With the situation always evolving because of COVID-19, we at the Library thought it would be a good idea to give you an update about what is currently happening at the library, and what you can expect in the near future

As per the Alberta Government restrictions, the library has been closed to the public since mid-December. Since then, we have been offering curbside pickup service and virtual programming, and more recently, curbside craft kits for kids and families to enjoy at home. We have also been reorganizing a few of the shelves, and our Archivist has been assisting families in doing genealogical research.

On Monday, March 1st, the government announced that libraries are allowed to re-open to the public at a reduced occupant capacity. While we are super excited to be able to see you all in-person once again, we need to make sure we are fully prepared to re-open. We will be ready to re-open our doors, on Monday, March 8th. For the time being our open hours will be Monday to Friday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm

For those of you who would still prefer to use the curbside service, we will continue to offer it as well. Just call the library and let them know that you would like to use curbside to retrieve your items and the staff will set you up with a pick-up day and time that works for you!

Within the library, all other previous COVID procedures and restrictions will remain in place such as mandatory mask wearing, hand sanitization, staying 6 feet apart, regular cleaning and sanitization of library areas and certain areas of the library will be closed to public use.

We would like to thank our patrons and the community for being patient and understanding during these unprecedented times. Our library Manager will continue to keep a close eye on the pandemic situation and we will do our best to offer library services to the community in accordance with the government guidelines and restrictions. For further information on our procedures and restrictions, please see our website, slavelakelibrary.ab.ca, and follow our facebook page for further updates. We look forward to seeing you on March 8th!
