Summer Reading Club

Jul. 02, 2021 Suzanne

Summer reading—it’s important! Research shows that kids who read four or more books over the summer are better prepared for the coming school year and do not go down the ‘summer slide’—the loss of reading and learning skills during the summer break. Reading over the summer months really does make a difference to your child’s learning.

With that in mind, your child(ren) are invited to join the TD Summer Reading Club at the Slave Lake Library, as well as join in all our fun summer activities.

With the TD Summer Reading Club, your child can participate anytime throughout the summer and however they would like, whether that is reading at home, online, at the library or wherever their summer takes them.

To sign up for the summer reading program, stop by the Slave Lake Library where you will receive a summer reading program booklet! The booklets help your child track how much they read each day. Also for each week that they visit the library to get their booklet stamped they will receive a small prize. At the end of summer if your child returns their booklet, (no matter how much they read) they will be entered for the Grand Prize!

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at the Slave Lake Library.
